Henry TRELFORD:

Henry TRELFORD, son of John & Mary TRELFORD, married Ann Hattie SPARLING, daughter of Edward SPARLING & Mary SMITH, on 07 Feb 1854, probably in Arran Township, Bruce County, Ontario, which was her place of residence. Henry apparently lived in Derby Township, Grey County near Owen Sound.

He bought land in Arran Township in 1854 (Concession 5, Lot 21) & again in 1861 (Concession 7, Lot 21). These locations are very close to Tara, a lovely small town where TRELFORD is a well-known name.

By 1871, his occupation was farmer, quite common at that time.

Henry & Ann Hattie had six children:
Mary Ann, William, John Elwood, Joseph, George & Elizabeth (photo of Elizabeth, George, Mary Ann & ?).

George was born in 1866 in Invermay, which is adjacent to Tara. To give an idea of the town, "Invermay . . . surveyed 1855, four houses . . . sawmill 1855-56, grist mill 1857" (from "History of the County Of Bruce" by ROBERTSON, p.271-2). Four houses!
